How to Sell Your Caravan Quickly in the UK
6 min read
The practical steps that help a caravan sell without long waits or repeated viewings.
Decide what matters most: price or speed
Almost every decision in a caravan sale is a trade-off between the two. A private advert usually achieves the highest headline figure, but it can take weeks or months and involves adverts, messages, viewings at your home and haggling on the day. Selling directly to a buyer like us is quicker and far less involved, because we handle collection and paperwork ourselves. Neither is the right answer for everyone — but knowing which one you actually care about makes the rest of the process much simpler.
Get your paperwork together first
Before you speak to anyone, find proof of ownership (the CRiS document or original invoice for a caravan), any service records, damp reports, warranty paperwork and receipts for work carried out. A seller who can answer questions with documents in hand gets a firmer figure faster, because the buyer has less risk to price in. If something is missing, say so early rather than letting it surface later — it is very rarely a dealbreaker, but a surprise at collection always slows things down.
Be honest about condition — especially damp
Damp is the single biggest factor in a caravan valuation, and it is the thing every buyer checks. Telling us about a known damp reading, a soft floor panel, a leaking window seal or previous water ingress does not stop a sale. What it does is let us give you a figure that stands up on inspection instead of one that drops on the day. The same goes for damage, failed appliances and repairs done at home. Accuracy up front is what keeps a valuation intact.
Photograph it properly
Ten clear photos will do more than a paragraph of description. Take them in daylight, from each corner of the outside, plus the roof if you can do so safely, then the interior from both ends, the washroom, the kitchen, the bed areas and any damage. Include the serial or chassis plate. Photos let us price accurately without a wasted visit, and they save you repeating the same answers to every enquirer.
Clean it, but do not over-invest
A wash, a clear-out and an hour with a vacuum will change how a caravan presents and costs you nothing. Big pre-sale spending usually does not pay for itself: replacing an awning, upgrading upholstery or having minor cosmetic work done rarely returns what you spend when you sell. Fix cheap, obvious annoyances — a blown bulb, a sticking catch — and leave the bigger jobs to whoever buys it.
Know how the handover should work
A safe sale ends with the caravan inspected, a figure agreed, paperwork signed and payment arranged directly between you and the buyer at collection. Nothing is paid online, and no deposit is needed to hold anything. If you still have outstanding finance, tell us at the start — it can usually be worked around, but it has to be settled as part of the process rather than discovered at the end.
What happens if you sell to us
You tell us about the caravan and send photos, we talk you through a figure over the phone, and if you are happy we arrange collection at a time that suits you. We inspect the caravan at collection, confirm the figure, complete the paperwork with you and take it away. You are under no obligation at any point, and there is nothing to pay us at any stage.
