Selling a Static Caravan — Your Options

We buy touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans, not statics. This page is the honest version of what to do if you have a static caravan or lodge to sell.

A static caravan is tied to a pitch and a site licence agreement, and moving one needs specialist haulage rather than a tow car. That is why static sales work differently from touring sales, and why the park usually has a say in who the next owner is. Here are the routes that are normally open to you.

Four routes to a sale

Sell it back to the park

The simplest route and often the only one where the caravan has to stay on its pitch. The park makes an offer, deals with the paperwork and takes over the pitch. Ask what the figure is before you commit to anything else, so you have something to compare against.

Sell it on the pitch to a new owner

Many parks allow a private sale as long as the buyer is approved and pays the pitch fees and commission. Check the site licence agreement first: commission, transfer fees and any age limit on caravans the park will accept all affect what you actually keep.

Sell to a static caravan specialist

Firms that deal specifically in statics and lodges can buy off-site, arrange transport and handle the pitch handover. Because moving a static needs specialist haulage, distance affects the figure much more than it does with a tourer.

Part exchange for a touring caravan or motorhome

If the plan is to stop paying pitch fees and start touring instead, the two sales can run separately: settle the static with your park or a specialist, and talk to us about the touring caravan, motorhome or campervan you want to move into.

Check these before you agree anything

  • Your site licence agreement — pitch fee dates, commission on a sale, transfer fees and any maximum age the park allows for a caravan on site.
  • Whether the sale is on-pitch or off-site, because off-site means specialist transport and craneage.
  • Proof of ownership and the original purchase invoice — a static has no V5C and usually no CRiS record.
  • Gas and electrical safety certificates, and any decking, shed or hot tub that is or is not included.
  • Insurance and pitch fees you have paid in advance, and whether any of it is refundable or transferable.

Moving from a static to touring?

This is where we can genuinely help. If you are selling the static to stop paying pitch fees and want to tour instead, we can value a touring caravan, motorhome or campervan you already own, or you can look through what we have for sale.
